Remember Today 8.31.08

{remember} how nice it is to not have to worry about Perry for dinner: chicken nuggets, french fries, and grape tomatoes all around (actually Logan and I had chicken patty sandwiches)--gotta love that Perdue guy. And just a note so I don't forget to cash in, Perry was in the big city with high school buddies, listening to live band music and drinking beers on a boat in the harbor. Hmm, can you say a day of scrapbooking is coming my way. . .!

Remember Today 8.30.08

{remember} a grumpy day, spinning my wheels, feeling overwhelmed, wanting to clean up and get things in order, but being too tired to focus--not a good feeling.

Remember Today 8.29.08

{remember} TGIF after a busy week adjusting to the school routine (or at least starting to), and TGIPN (that's thank God it's pizza night!)

Remember Today 8.28.08

{remember} the first real day of one-on-one time with the little Mad Dog! A little playing, a little walking, a little shopping (at BJ's for school snacks and the like), and a whole lotta loving life!

Remember Today 8.27.08

{remember} a day of firsts for Camden: first day of kindergarten, first bus ride, first time crossing the monkey bars without any help, first kiss from a girl (Mommy, she kissed me. Me: where? Him: everywhere, all the way home on the bus)

It's starting already

Today I met Lauren. Camden and I walked hand-in-hand into the classroom, she caught his eye, he smiled and waved, and she tugged on her mother's sleeve and said, "That's my friend." They met during camp a few weeks ago, and at the end of everyday they would call out their goodbyes to each other--so cute.

Today I was scolded for stopping to chat with the principal briefly because "Lauren is now way ahead of us and is probably already gone in the car." Thankfully Lauren was just driving off as we reached the parking lot and again they yelled their goodbyes through open car windows.

Today you picked another dandelion, but this one, as all the other's before it had been, was not for me. It was for Lauren because you like her, no, you "don't just like her, [you] love her."

Where does the time go?

It seems like I was just holding you in my arms,
but now you are slipping out of them to go off with your friends.

It seems like we were just gazing into each others eyes in complete wonder,
and now I wonder what you're doing during your day away from me.

It seems like I was just watching you curled up in a tiny ball on a blanket imagining what you would look like when you're 7, what your voice would sound like, and what kind of person you would be.

And now here you are, you're 7 and you're wonderful and all I can think is where did the time go?

Remember Today 8.26.08

{remember} seeing Logan off for his first day of school, not quite believing that summer has ended, that another school year is starting, and mostly that my little man is already in second grade. How does this happen?

Remember Today 8.25.08

{remember} a little shopping at the mall for back to school: new sneaks for Camden and Maddox, new shirts for all, and cutie baby clothes for Baby Kalmin.

Sunday, August 24, 2008

Remember Today 8.24.08

{remember} a shopping excursion alone: Anthropologie (could have spent some big money here), Shabby Chic (and here), Juicy Couture, Hanna Andersson(fun stuff--makes me wish I had a little girl to dress), Louis Vuitton, Pottery Barn, Ruehl (this store is so dark I almost walked into a mirror and fell over a chair), Betsey Johnson (fun and playful, but who actually wears this stuff?!), Janie and Jack (so sweet), O'Kaidi, Fruits and Passion (liked the Green Tea eau de toilette), Lululemon Athletica ($95 for yoga pants! but they hem them for free). I'll refer to this as more of an artist date than a shopping trip since I only purchased 4 shirts for the boys for back to school at Gap Kids (and ended up spending nearly the same amount of money on groceries when I returned home as I did at the mall). Fun to look anyway!

I will continue to post to this blog with my {remember} today's and other personal stuff--love using this to keep track of all the tidbits that will eventually turn into scrapbook pages!

Remember Today 8.23.08

{remember} cleaning the ENTIRE house in one day--crazy the stuff that makes me happy!

Remember Today 8.22.08

{remember} getting back to Pilates (finally!) and Maddox saying he liked child watch and wants to go without Logan and Camden--might I be able to exercise once a week?!

Thursday, August 21, 2008

Remember Today 8.21.08

{remember} Camden noticing a group of cyclists riding by, and later me commenting that the bikes C saw are at the pizzeria. Maddox asks, "Do those bikes have mouths?" He cracks me up on a daily basis!

Remember Today 8.20.08

{remember} how some scraps of wood, hammers, nails, and markers can eat up an hour of an afternoon and provide tons of creative fun for 6 children.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Remember Today 8.19.08

{remember} a spur of the moment trip to Chuck-E-Cheese's with the boys and Nani--so loud, so chaotic, so fattening (when you eat 5 pieces of pizza!), yet so fun.

Monday, August 18, 2008

Remember Today 8.18.08

{remember} soaking up the last few days of summer vacation at the park with the boys.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Remember Today 8.17.08

{remember} seeing that Perry got in touch with his creative side to make Camden some binoculars (complete with a hanging string) out of a paper towel roll. Love that man!

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Remember Today 8.16.08

{remember} spending the morning making meatballs and sauce, and meatloaf--dinner for tonight: check, dinner for Monday: check. So unlike me to be prepared in the meals department.

Friday, August 15, 2008

Remember Today 8.15.08

{remember} Camden referring to God as a feminine being, it went something like this: "I know what God's doing, she's making the weather the same as last Friday. . ." Me: How do you know God is a girl? Him: I can't see her. Is she? Me: I don't know, I've never met God. Him: Me either, and I'm not even close to meeting her.

Just wondering. . .

Back to school is just around the corner, and I've got classes on the brain. I get this way twice a year: January (the whole New Year's Resolution thing gets me every time) and September. So I'm thinking about some of the classes I would like to have from now until the end of the year. For those of you interested in taking a class in scrapbooking, card making, or other paper craft, please answer the poll at the top of the side bar. And feel free to leave a comment if you have a class idea or something you would like to learn/work on.

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Remember Today 8.12.08

{remember} Camden telling me, "Mom, you always have good ideas, we just don't always want to do them."

Good Night. . .

Sleep tight, sweet dreams, I love you. {what I say to each of the boys every night}

Remember Today 8.11.08

{remember} an outdoor project with the boys using M's new art supplies from his birthday.

Crossing the finish line

Woohoo! I'm done. 160 save the dates completed. Some things I learned in this process:

5) I'm so glad I bought the Purple Cows trimmer.
4) Don't start a really good book in the middle of a project like this.
3) Holy adhesive--these took 540 feet to assemble--be sure to have lots of refills on hand.
2) These things always take longer than what I think in my head.
1) Why didn't I get Perry to help me with this?!
It actually went really well, with no troubles other than my ATG being a big pain in the you-know-what. Now I can get back to a little scrapbooking.

Scouting Bunnies

My SIL does a photo of the week on her blog. I don't do it, but if I did this would be mine:
Taken at the end of Maddox's birthday party. Perry noticed two bunnies in the yard across the street, so Camden and two of our neighbors thought they would get as close as possible "let's crawl to sneak up on them...shhh, be very quiet...don't talk..." How cute are they?!

Remember Today 8.10.08

{remember} throwing together a birthday party for Maddox super last minute (poor Maddox with a summer birthday when I'm really just too lazy to put all that much time into it). He had lots of fun, so that's all that matters!

Saturday, August 9, 2008

Remember Today 8.9.08

{remember} watching L & C rocking out to All the Small Things and Buddy Holly (a song I had never heard of before) while playing"Rock Band" with cousin Alaina: L on guitar and mic, C on drums--future rock stars.

Friday, August 8, 2008

Remember Today 8.8.08

{remember} taking L & M to the school playground before picking up C at Kindergarten Camp and hearing L say this while swinging: It's nice with no one talking. It's just the air. It's like we're making air, so no one talk, OK?

Thursday, August 7, 2008

Remember Today 8.7.08

{remember} spending a wicked thunderstorm inside with the neighbors--playdough, games, and chatting (and me trying to straighten up a bit before scrapbook night).

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Remember Today 8.6.08

{remember} a much needed day inside due to rain--lots of organizing, picking up, and a bit of cleaning--love these kind of rainy days thrown into a bunch of sunny outside ones.

Some Assembly Required

This is what 160 looks like. All the components are printed, cut and ready for assembly. The tape gun is loaded and the kiddos are fast asleep. Time to get crack-a-lacking on these save the date cards.

Remember Today 8.2.08

{remember} a fun night out at a wedding--there's nothing like watching two people say "I do": makes me tear up every time.

Friday, August 1, 2008

Remember Today 8.1.08

{remember} finally getting to pilates after too many months without it and finding the class cancelled (so typical of the week I had!). Oh well, maybe next week.

a good read

I retreated to bed early last night to read the second half of a wonderful book: Cold Rock River. I highly recommend this book. It is set in the 1960's and mirrors a teenage girl's life with that of a Southern slave around the time of the Civil War. It was wonderfully written with strong character development, a plot that kept me turning pages, an ending that left me, yet again, sad that the book was over. I'm off to check out J.L. Miles first novel Roseflower Creek.
